Volante Creations is a home for imaginative, engaging games designed to bring people together. We focus on creating experiences that spark creativity, fun, and connection, starting with our first card game, Mead Mayhem®, and continuing with many more ideas currently in development.

At its heart, Volante Creations is about shared moments: laughter around a table, friendly rivalry, and the kind of games people come back to again and again.

Where It All Began

Volante Creations began with a love of mead, a bit of curiosity, and an offhand suggestion during a night at the pub. While exploring mead-themed ideas, a simple question stuck: why not create a game?

That spark quickly turned into cards, rules, artwork, and a prototype, and ultimately became Mead Mayhem®, the first step in what would grow into Volante Creations.

Why Games?

Games have always been part of my life. From marbles and Mini Micros to football cards, Pokémon, Monopoly, and later Magic: The Gathering, games were never just about winning. They were about socialising, meeting new people, and connecting across ages and backgrounds through a shared experience.

As a graphic designer, I’d spent years working to briefs and guidelines created by others. I wanted to build something original, something born entirely from my own ideas. Branding was familiar territory, but game design was a new challenge. Mead, in particular, felt like a theme that hadn’t been explored much, and that made it exciting.

My hope is to create games that leave a lasting impression. Games that bring smiles, spark jokes, and become part of people’s memories, something they return to years later and still enjoy. That’s what I want Mead Mayhem® to be.

The Creative Process

Those “aha!” moments are the best part, when an idea grows so quickly you’re scrambling for pen and paper before it disappears (sometimes in the middle of the night).

From there, everything is tested, broken, rebuilt, and refined. I play-test relentlessly, looking for loopholes, exploits, unclear wording, or anything that doesn’t feel right. The goal is always to create something that could genuinely sit on a shop shelf, and stand up to being played repeatedly.

Mead Mayhem® went from a rough, laminated paper prototype in just a few days… to nearly a year of refinement before I was completely happy with it. Learning about UKCA approvals, sourcing printers, funding prototypes, and translating a vision into a finished product was challenging, but each step made me better prepared for what comes next.

I’m meticulous, sometimes to a fault. Consistency matters. Details matter. And while the process can be frustrating, it’s also what makes the final product stronger.
